An air assault is underway Dallas, Texas. It?s an attempt to curb the spread of West Nile Virus, which has already killed more than a dozen people in the Lone Star State. Twin engine planes are dropping insecticide in designated parts of the city. Is the warm winter to blame for this surge in the virus? Who?s at risk? And is the Texas outbreak just the tip of the iceberg?

Doctors at the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention say it?s really a perfect storm. We had a very mild winter, a hot spring, and an extremely hot summer. And then you fold into the fact that we?ve had a lot of rain here in Texas. West Nile Virus of course is contracted by being bitten with an infected mosquito. And usually the elderly and children are most at risk. Although the CDC says healthy people in their 40?s and 50?s are coming down with it this time around, which of course only adds to the alarm. Texas may be the epicenter, but 43 other states have reported cases around the country. A total of 693 cases nationwide.
