First of all, get used to being an object of someones frustration and verbal aggression. As harsh as it sounds to be, its never personal and thats how you should think of it. Clients, who are dissatisfied with the quality of provided goods or services have no other means to air their opinion than to call your number. Although it sounds unpleasant, often the best way to deal with difficult client is to let him vent his anger on you and afterward work together on a solution. People need to know that their complaints have been listened to, before necessary steps are taken to repair what has been done. Instead of trying to interrupt the customers speech, let him say what he needs to say and afterward reassure him that this situation will be taken care of. To win your customers trust try to use his name during the conversation, but only when it sounds very natural. Also dont try too hard to be polite ? its better to apologize once and then focus on solving the problem than to do it all the time and leave your client with an impression of talking to a very polite machine.
To create a special bond with your client you can try to use phrases, which show your understanding and dedication, for example ?I would feel the same way as you do if I were in your situation?. Whatever solution youre trying to present, make your client feel like if it was made especially for him, considering his situation and demands.
Although from time to time you will have to deal with very difficult customers, majority of them will be calling you with some questions or small problems to solve.
