As I mentioned in my other post, Top That! Publishing sent Little One two lovely books to review, and this is the second one.I have to say, over the past 11 years, we have had quite a few alphabet books, but this is my favourite. It's just so magically enchanting and it engages the child from the first page. The illustrations are wonderful, and like I've said in other children's book reviews, these bring the whole thing to life.
Each turn of the page introduces us to another resident or residence of the enchanted world - with a clever description, of course in alphabetical order - from Angel to Zoo. You'll meet loving robots, tiny fairies and chatty parrots. Visit zooming spaceships, chilly igloos whilst enjoying sweet honey and wobbly jelly. Sounds like fun to me!
'When I dream of ABC' is yet another great bedtime storybook, which helps teach the alphabet and reinforce letter recognition. It's fun, quirky and humorous with some rather useful advice, such as, '...Never get too close to a giant, because their hugs are quite dangerous.'
I have decided that I must really be a Queen, since I am 'bossy, eat chocolate and have lots of shoes.' Come to think of it, I think Little One must have royal blood too. Who knew?
I love the last pages which display all the images for each letter, set out in order. This helps Little One to remember what's she's seen in the book, again helping with her alphabet and first words.
Disclaimer: I received this book free of charge for review purposes. However, the words are my own, honest opinions, and I have received no payment for writing this review.
