SEATTLE ? Washington state is about to start collecting a sales tax on most adult sports teams and leagues.
The sports include basketball, football, hockey, and soccer leagues; cycling, running, swimming and triathlon events; and baseball, golf, softball, and tennis tournaments.
Children's and youth teams, and charity fundraising sports activities, are exempt.
The state says the rule has been on the books for 20 years, but not strongly enforced.
