When it comes to taking care of business, it appears Washington State University is has been doing a good job.
The international business program in the College of Business at WSU ranked 12th among public institutions and 19th overall in the most recent undergraduate international business rankings by US News and World Report magazine, the university announced Sept. 26. The rankings are based on the program?s reputation among other business schools as reflected in a peer assessment conducted each spring.
?The successes of our international programs are in a large measure due to long-term global partnerships we have cultivated with educational institutions around the world, as well as our offering unique faculty-led international experiences for our students in a variety of locations,? said Dean Eric Spangenberg in a press release. ?It?s also important to recognize the generous support of donors, which eases financial strain on students who desire to study abroad. They helped us to award more than $80,000 in study abroad scholarships this past year.?
As one of its strategic priorities, the college seeks to develop students? appreciation for the cultural and social dimensions of the global business environment. The college recently instituted a global learning requirement for undergraduate students and has expanded its annual business plan competition to include student teams from the college?s centers in Switzerland and China.
These and other student-oriented initiatives contribute significantly to continued and increasing recognition in the US News and World Report ranking, according to the release.
Additionally, more than 25 percent of business students studied abroad with WSU faculty last year. WSU currently has programs in China, Switzerland, Thailand, Italy, Greece, Spain and Turkey.
?By continuing to focus strategically on global learning, the (College of Business) will continue to develop business leaders possessing a broad international perspective and a better understanding of the cultural and social dimensions of the business world,? Spangenberg said.
The WSU College of Business is accredited at the baccalaureate, masters and doctoral levels by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. The college spans all WSU campuses including Pullman, an online campus, regional campuses in Spokane, Vancouver and the Tri-Cities, an emerging campus in Everett and centers in China and Switzerland.
