Choosing an effective internet marketing solution can be a challenge. There are many sites out there that are offering internet marketing services; some are to be trusted, and others may simply be scams. The main goal of these businesses is to increase the traffic to your website.

They can also help you in the overall creation of your website as well. They will usually also give you the option of purchasing a site from them that is search engine optimized and well advertised so that it is getting a fair amount of traffic when you first receive it.

Internet marketing solution businesses have several methods that they can utilize to increase the traffic to your page as well as the amount of business you will receive. These methods include: search engine optimization, pay for placement, express listings, online advertising, opt-in emails, and conventional advertising.

Search Engine optimization is crucial to the success of your web site. Research has shown that about 80 percent of all web traffic comes from search engines. Internet marketing businesses will scan your site to make sure that you are using the most effective keywords and at the best rate. Then, they will submit your site to all of the major search engines in order to provide you with maximum visibility.

Pay for placement ads are usually offered by popular search engines such as Google and Yahoo. These are short ads that internet marketing solution companies may write and place for you in order to receive the most exposure.Finding An Effective Internet Marketing Solution The good thing about these types of ads is that you only pay when people click on your ads. The amount you pay per click varies on a few factors. It may cost a few cents or a dollar or more for each click you receive.

Express listings can be placed on search networks such as Yahoo. Internet marketing businesses will write up an effective, keyword rich description of your page that is guaranteed to be accepted and placed in Yahoo?s Business Express Directory. They will also monitor the site?s achievement in order to make sure that the intended results are being accomplished.

Online advertising is a great way to exploit your target market. Internet marketing sites will research the size and typical behaviour of your target market. They use the data they receive to identify marketing vehicles that are certain to give you the best results. Opt-in emails are a powerful method of bringing traffic to your site that is often overlooked. This may be because they are hard to get started. They are usually in the form of monthly newsletters that you can send out to all the people who subscribe to them on your web site.

Conventional advertising is made up of offline methods of promoting your business such as newspaper ads. Since so many of your competitors are advertising primarily on the web, advertising offline can be a great way to set yourself apart. As you can see, these internet marketing solution businesses have many methods at their disposal which they can use to increase your business.

Hemorrhoids - Causes and Cure

Article Directory :: Health & Fitness Articles

Hemorrhoids, also known as piles, are quite common in today's society. They can occur in about 75 % of Americans above 45 years of age although they are irritating they normally cause little real problem. However, the good news is that applying simple treatments at an early stage can prevent them progressing to a more serious condition.

Piles can arise from a wide number of triggers, so practically everyone is at a risk when it comes to this body problem. Here are some key points to help you understand the condition and what you can do about it.

Causes of Piles

The cause of hemorrhoids may stem anywhere from daily habits to medical anomalies. As already mentioned, people above 45 years old are more often the ones who suffer from this condition. This is mainly because aging is one of the contributors to the occurrence of piles. As time goes on, the veins start to become weaker, causing their vulnerability to inflammation.

Of course, there are times when the veins become vulnerable due to other reasons. For example, people who tend to sit all day or are obese might find themselves suffering from the problem. This is because the weight and constant inactivity causes pressure onto the veins and hardening of the stools, leading to the veins becoming inflamed and then damaged by the passage of hard stools. Other activities that might cause undue strain on this body part include straining or having a hard time with bowel movement, diarrhea and sitting on the toilet for long periods of time.

Pregnant women also increase their risk of developing this condition since the position of the fetus causes pressure to various body parts, including the veins of the anus. In some cases, genes are also pinpointed to be possible triggers of piles while the wrong diet could also cause the strain on the veins.

Symptoms and Cure

Hemorrhoids are not something that happens overnight. Piles usually travel from one stage to another until it is no longer possible to ignore them. I deally though, sufferers should have the problem checked as soon as they experience some of the symptoms of the condition. Some of those include:

- Rectal bleeding

- Anal itching and irritation

- Straining and bowel movement difficulty

- Lumps around the anus

- Pain around the anal area

Once these symptoms occur, individuals must seek the help of a doctor immediately. Rectal bleeding or a touch of blood in the stool is usually one of the first signs. Hence, at the sign of any red spot, individuals must consult a doctor straight away. These symptoms may not result from hemorrhoids and could need detailed medical attention. However, once more serious conditions have been eliminated then, for most cases of piles, home remedies can be applied to treat the condition.

The cure for hemorrhoids varies depending on what caused it in the first place. For example, if a person is having difficulties due to a bad diet, then it is time to incorporate healthier options in the food eaten. Healthy living and the use of specific products for the condition would also go a long way to curing the problem,

It is important to note that hemorrhoids can become a serious problem that could significantly decrease a person's quality of living. Hence, ignoring it until it becomes worse is not an option. Natural hemorrhoid treatments are available to help. However, safety first - the minute a person finds blood in their stool, they should head to a doctor for a diagnosis. This way, the condition will be identified whether it is piles or not.

(AP) ? The 17 countries that use the euro have boosted their emergency funding for heavily indebted countries to ?800 billion ($1.1 trillion) ? an amount that falls short of what the currency union's international partners had said is needed to calm financial markets.

Of the ?800 billion limit eurozone finance ministers agreed to Friday, only some ?500 billion ($670 billion) is still available for new bailout loans. About ?300 billion ($400 billion) in loans have already been used to bail out Greece, Ireland and Portugal.

The International Monetary Fund and others have been calling for a financial "firewall" of more than ?1 trillion ($1.3 trillion) ? just in case the much larger economies of Spain and Italy need assistance. On Friday, IMF managing director Christine Lagarde congratulated European leaders on their agreement, but didn't say whether it went far enough to guarantee additional help from the IMF.

"I welcome the decision of euro area ministers to strengthen the European firewall," Lagarde said in a statement. "The IMF has long emphasized that enhanced European and global firewalls, together with the implementation of strong policy frameworks, are critical for ending the crisis and securing international financial stability."

The U.S. Treasury Department also didn't say whether the firewall was as large as it had hoped.

Friday's announcement "reinforces a trajectory of positive efforts to strengthen confidence in the euro area," Treasury Department spokeswoman Natalie Wyeth said. "Over the last several months, European leaders have made significant progress in addressing the crisis, and we welcome their unequivocal commitment to reinforcing their currency union."

Stock markets recovered some ground Friday after sharp losses this week. European stocks will end the month higher and still above the levels of last summer, when Europe's debt crisis flared up.

Germany's DAX closed 1.0 percent higher at 6,946.83 while the CAC-40 in France rose 1.3 percent to 3,423.81 and Britain's FTSE 100 gained 0.5 percent to 5,768.45.

Many economists fear that further trouble in Europe could smother a burgeoning economic recovery in other parts of the world. Together, Italy and Spain hold more than ?2.5 trillion in debt and a default ? or even the serious threat of a default ? could pummel banks across Europe and spread panic on global markets.

But putting up large amounts to save some of its members is not an easy task for the eurozone. Rich countries such as Germany and Finland face rising opposition against bailouts among their voters, while the finances of many other states are already overstretched.

Even reaching the overall ?800 billion capacity required a complicated patchwork of several old and new funds and loan programs. Ministers struggled to add up old commitments to reach a large figure to impress markets, only to quickly explain its components to calm down voters worried about their tax money.

Of the new total, only ?500 billion is fresh money and will have to be built up and cobbled together over time as the eurozone moves from its interim bailout fund, the European Financial Stability Facility, to its new rescue vehicle, the European Stability Mechanism.

The ESM, which will come into force in July, will initially only be able to give out some ?200 billion of its future ?500 billion loan capacity. By the middle of next year, that figure will rise to ?400 billion.

Until then, some ?240 billion remaining from the EFSF will act as a buffer, in case a large amount of financial aid is required.

Analysts said the agreement didn't come as much of a surprise, as it was closely modeled on a proposal made earlier this week by Europe's largest economy.

"Today's decision is a classical European compromise. It was as far as the German government was willing to go and it was the minimum most other eurozone countries were expecting," said Carsten Brzeski, senior economist at ING.

The big questions now are whether the new firewall will give investors the confidence to keep lending money to vulnerable euro countries and convince non-European economies to commit more resources to the IMF. The IMF says it needs an extra $500 billion to support governments around the world in case the crisis intensifies again.

The eurozone has already promised to provide ?150 billion ($200 billion) of that amount and other IMF members are expected to make a decision at a meeting in Washington in April.

The head of the EU's economic affairs unit, Olli Rehn, and Joerg Asmussen, a member of the executive board of the European Central Bank, were confident that Friday's decision would be enough to get other countries to participate, even though both institutions had pushed for a much bigger boost.

"I trust that today's decision will pave the way for an increase of the lending resources by the IMF's spring meeting next month," Rehn told journalists.

Earlier, Rehn, together with French Finance Minister Francois Baroin, had mounted a last-minute initiative to go beyond the ?800 billion, but that attempt was quickly smothered by Germany's finance chief Wolfgang Schaeuble.

After the meeting, Schaeuble couldn't resist a slight sting against those who had pushed for a bigger increase.

"My irritation over some stupid chitchat in recent days come from the pretense that the only thing that mattered was the firewall," he told reporters during a short break between talks.

Picture captures a billion stars

Scientists have produced a colossal picture of our Milky Way Galaxy, to reveal the detail of a billion stars.

It is built from thousands of individual images acquired by two UK-developed telescopes operating in Hawaii and in Chile.

Archived data from the project, known as the Vista Data Flow System, will be mined by astronomers to make new discoveries about the local cosmos.

But more simply, it represents a fabulous portrait of the night sky.

"There are about one billion stars in there - this is more than has been in any other image produced by surveys," said Dr Nick Cross from the University of Edinburgh.

"When it was first produced, I played with it for hours; it's just stunning," he told BBC News.

Dr Cross has been presenting the new work to the UK National Astronomy Meeting (NAM) here in Manchester.

The image concentrates on the dense plane of the galaxy, which means it renders as a very long, very thin strip.

That makes it is virtually impossible to show in a meaningful way on this page.

Dr Cross and colleagues have though produced an online interactive tool that allows the user to zoom in to particular areas. Even then, these smaller fragments of sky will contain thousands of stars.

The project has been 10 years in the making. It combines data from the UKIDSS/GPS sky survey acquired by the UK Infrared Telescope in Hawaii with the VVV survey data acquired by the Vista telescope in Chile.

These astronomical facilities view the sky at infrared wavelengths, enabling them to see past the dust in the Milky Way that would ordinarily obscure observations made at optical, or visible, wavelengths.

UKIRT is responsible for the right end of the image; Vista produced the left, including the more extensive block of coverage which traces the centre of the galaxy and its surrounding bulge of stars. (Black squares in the image are data gaps that are in the process of being filled).

Researchers at the universities of Edinburgh and Cambridge processed and archived all the data that underpins the big picture, and have made it available to astronomers around the world for future study.

"There are many uses for this picture," said Dr Cross. "It will help us really understand the true nature of our galaxy, to see where everything is.

"Some researchers will use it to find star forming regions; there'll be lots of these along the plane of the galaxy.

"Finding globular clusters will be another use. These are groups of very old stars that formed right at the beginning of the galaxy. We can study their distribution in this image and that tells us something about how the Milky Way started off.

"And it will be particularly useful to study anything that is extended. Here you can look at things on the large scale, to understand how they are related to each other; to look at things that might be across multiple images in a catalogue.

"These are the big objects like clusters, and nebulae - the gas clouds where stars are forming."

NY, NJ, and CT Home, Flood, and Auto Insurance Information and ...

Welcome back to me, as I have not posted in a while now. The market for coastal and waterfront homeowners insurance on Long Island and in the New York - New Jersey - Connecticut area in general has, if anything, gotten a little better in the last year or so, with a few more carriers coming in to the market, and some companies at least NOT canceling as many people as they were 3 and 4 years ago. In addition, prices for insurance with the 'excess lines' markets such as Lloyds of London, Scottsdale, and many others, have been driven down by competition. This is/was especially true in the past several years where we have not had major storm activity.

But in the most recent six months, there has been a 'firming' of prices and some tightening of underwriting coming from these excess insurance carriers who are the ones taking the risk on houses closest to the shore. The question becomes, why? There are several reasons at play.

For one thing, it does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that in ANY type of insurance, but especially a line like home/fire insurance where there is a potential for catastrophic losses, rates can only go down so far before they 'bounce along the bottom'. That's the price at which companies start to notice that their profit margin is being squeezed. Insurance companies, if run properly, can make money, but it comes from relatively very small percentage profits on huge dollars. So when you are working on a 5% margin, or even less, it doesn't take much to turn your results from black ink to red.

The next thing that's having an effect on all insurance company profitability is the low interest rate environment. When the insurance company is able to get a decent income on their holdings, competition can force them to lower or hold the line on rates they charge to customers. But since most insurance companies invest mostly in interest bearing bonds, and we know what rates are available on those, their investment income has dropped substantially in the past few years.

Finally, the string of catastrophes in other parts of the world has an effect on the reinsurance market, which is where insurance companies buy insurance for themselves against the major catastrophes. That spreads the risk out all over the world, but unfortunately we have seen more and more events like tornadoes, tsunami's, massive flooding, and other things that, even though they might not happen here, still affect rates for property with a high catastrophe risk.

House ready to OK GOP budget, rejects rival plans

(AP) ? Republicans are ready to ram through the House an election-year, $3.5 trillion budget that showcases their deficit-cutting plan for revamping Medicare and slicing everything from food stamps to transportation while rejecting President Barack Obama's call to raise taxes on the rich.

The blueprint by House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan, R-Wis., was headed for all but certain House passage Thursday, mostly along party lines. It faces a demise that is just as sure in the Democratic-run Senate, which plans to ignore it, but the battle remains significant because of the clarity with which it contrasts the two parties' budgetary visions for voters.

Republicans were focused on sharper deficit reduction and starkly less government than Democrats wanted and were proposing to lower income tax rates while erasing many unspecified tax breaks. Obama and Democrats were ready to boost taxes on families making above $250,000 and on oil and gas companies, add spending for roads and schools and cull more modest savings from domestic programs.

"They're choosing the next election over the next generation," Ryan said, deriding Democrats' plans as far too timid. He added, "If we don't tackle these fiscal problems soon, they're going to tackle us as a country."

Democrats said they, too, were eager to stanch deficits that now exceed $1 trillion annually. But they said it needed to be done in a more balanced way, with rich and poor alike sharing the load.

"It's a path to greater prosperity ? if you're already wealthy," said Rep. Chris Van Hollen of Maryland, top Democrat on the Budget panel, mocking the "Path to Prosperity" title Ryan has given his document. "Because our Republican colleagues refuse to ask millionaires to contribute one cent to deficit reduction, they hit everyone and everything else."

In a pair of preliminary votes expected Thursday, conservatives were offering their own proposal with deeper spending cuts and far faster deficit-reduction than the GOP plan, claiming to balance the budget in just five years. Democrats were pushing a measure featuring pumped-up spending for education and new tax credits for companies creating jobs and raising wages, while claiming savings from winding down the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, government waste and reductions in farm payments.

Both were destined to be defeated.

Underscoring the prickly partisan gulf over how to tackle the budget's drastic imbalances, the House late Wednesday on a 382-38 vote easily shot down a compromise, bipartisan deficit-cutting plan by moderates of both parties that mingled tax increases with spending cuts.

The measure was modeled roughly on a package produced by Obama's deficit-reduction commission. The commission's plan drew praise from prominent deficit foes but was treated coolly by Obama and congressional leaders of both parties.

The House also voted 414-0 Wednesday to reject Obama's budget, with Democrats accusing the GOP of forcing the vote to embarrass them. Democrats were concerned Republicans would use campaign ads to link Democrats who supported Obama's plan to all of its details, including tax increases and boosts for unpopular programs.

Congress' budget is a nonbinding road map that suggests tax and spending changes that lawmakers should make in separate, later legislation.

Particularly with voters deciding control of the White House and the Capitol in November, the two parties are sure to stalemate each other's budgetary priorities until after the election.

The House GOP budget would cut spending by $5.3 trillion more over the next decade than Obama's would ? out of more than $40 trillion that would still be spent during that period. It envisions repeal of the president's health care overhaul and sets a course for deep reductions for highway and rail projects, research and aid to college students and farmers while easing planned defense cuts.

It also would cut taxes by $2 trillion more than the president over that time, leaving Republicans seeking about $3.3 trillion in deeper deficit reduction than Obama.

Drawing the most political heat was Ryan's plan for Medicare, the $500 billion-a-year health insurance program for older Americans that all agree is growing so fast that its future financing is shaky. Both parties know that seniors vote in high numbers and care passionately about the program.

Republicans would leave the plan alone for retirees and those near retirement, letting the government continue paying much of their doctors' and hospital bills.

For younger people, Medicare would be reshaped into a voucher-like system in which the government would subsidize people's health care costs, which Republicans say would drive down federal costs by giving seniors a menu of options that would compete with each other. Democrats say government payments won't keep up with the rapid inflation of medical costs, leaving many beneficiaries struggling to afford the care they need.

"It ends the Medicare guarantee," House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said of Ryan's budget.

"This plan doesn't end the Medicare guarantee," said Rep. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz. "Arithmetic does. Unless we change something, unless we put it on a solvent footing, the Medicare guarantee is gone."

Republicans would turn Medicaid, the nearly $300 billion-a-year federal-state health insurance program for the poor, into a grant that states could use as they wish. They also would trim its growth by $800 billion over the next decade.

I?m doing nothin, just researching about hermit crabs on the internet because I?m sick today. No school! yaaay!..!? ?

I like fish because of there vibrant colors! and ya, its a growing hobby for me, too!

I personally like Guppies, and Bettas. Both pretty, and hardy with personalities!

Something interesting.. . .hm.. . . I can make good cat noises, and I can write sideways, being left handed, and I?m double-jointed!

I?ve always wanted a small square fishtank built into the corner of my wall. lol! Not gonna happen! :D

hm? I have 15 birds, 2 bunnies, 2 goats, 5-10 guppies, 4 cats, 3 lizards, 5 chickens, and I think that?s all :D I might edit because I might have missed some.

I just got off work and like to relax after. I get very motivated at night and complete all my pet related, or just regular tasks done.

I like fish because I enjoy challenging myself, breeding different varieties, creating something from nothing, etc. It?s piecing together something cool that I can care for and maintain. Plus some fish look really nifty. For the most part I also really like the "fish people". We?re all pretty different, but I go to monthly meetings of an aquarium society.

One of my favorite fish is my largest koi named Sweetheart, he?s perfectly black and eats out of my hand. Second is my dragonscale betta, he?s like the ideal pet fish- he jumps for food, follows your finger, and is so active.

My ultimate will be 6?x2?x2? and be based off of this tank of Takashi Amano?s- http://fish.mongabayimages/bigtank.

I?m ADD and OCD so I get bored and focus on procrastinating. Because of this I have many hobbies. I enjoy sewing, baking, hiking, soccer, running, and I make chainmaille. I am very into fish, but I also have a tree frog, gecko, 2 dogs, a cat, and an Amazon parrot. I want to be a zoo keeper.

I?m researching fish.
I like fish because they keep me off the streets. I would consider it a hobby.
My favorite fish that I?ve owned is an angelfish, but I?ve only been in the hobby for a few months.
My dream aquarium is a 150 gallon planted discus tank.
Something interesting about me is that I, too, am putting off assignments and studying for a big history exam tomorrow. But I could care less. Fish are cooler.

At work quoting on massive buildings, very slowly.

I like fish as they add something to a room, i enjot research and there isn?t much else in this town.
Favourite fish is my male german blue ram which is currently spawinning and i?m hoping to raise these fry to adults if i can re home my tiger barbs.

I?d like a 6*3*3 tank with Australian natives/south american cichilds and rainbows.

If anyones in melbourne come drink with me tonight?

It is good to work on something you like. There are so much to learn about any single type of pets.Let alone there are just so many species of fish.We can?t even dream of having experience first hand with even a small percentage of what?s available out there.

I like fish, and pets in general. So I am helping to build a new pets keepers? community forum from scratch, which was just launched a little over 2 weeks ago.
http://petskeepersguideforums/forum

Research is a part of the hobby, and I will be writing informative articles for this site, and well as participate a lot with quality posts. It will be satisfactoryto me to help a new community succeed from scratch.

Look at all the other "gay" ppl answering you with equily lengthy answers. Haha!

Most interesting fish I?ve raised; Female Spot Face Pike (Crenicichla Lenticulata)
http://gwsphotosimages/1754.jpg
She ended up making my cichlid tank a species only tank. Mean fish

I would like to do more Pike cichlids in a larger aqaurium. Spotfaced Pike is a very smart fish. She was the most interesting fish I?ve ever seen. She would literally problem salve.

I?m thinking 260-320 gallon with pike and brizilian bass.

What I?m doing? Done house shopping, waiting for wife to come home with a movie. Hopefully get some love later :) ~

You are quite the procrastinator :)

5 Predictive Technologies That Will Make Your Life Better

Your car suggests a route to a local coffee shop automatically, based on how often you stop there after work. Your laptop suddenly boots up faster and brims with newfound speed because it can predict what data you will need and what you won't. Your DNA reveals to you some simple steps you should take to improve your long-term health, long before you turn 50.

These are the sorts of things futurists have been predicting for a while. But this year, they're primed to go mainstream. While AI can help computers become smarter and more helpful, predictive technology can improve our lives more directly and in more tangible ways by predicting problems and dangers before they occur. Computers won't just live in the present, helping us plan our day. They will use a vast storehouse of previously collected data to predict our future and help us to adjust, in real time, for that future.

Here are five places where we're already seeing it happen.

My Retail Furniture Business Closed - Now What? | Furnishings and ...

U.S. Retail Furniture Dealers and home goods retailers have been hurt by several things in the past few years. Small business owners in retail furniture and home furnishings have been forced out of business

At first it was competition from big box stores like Target and specialty super-chains like Restoration Hardware and Z Gallery. Cheap imported knock-offs of American and European designed furniture appeared everywhere, at prices designed to eliminate the competition.

Then the slowdown in housing and the end of home refinancing took its toll. If you've been in the furniture business a while, as I have, you know that people simply stopped spending a while ago, before reports of a "possible recession" began to surface.

Smaller boutique and specialty furniture stores began closing, and they were followed by huge furniture chains including Wickes, which closed its 38 stores nationwide.

Have you been affected by any of the above? I was. It changed my life.

For 17 years I owned a small group of retail furniture specialty stores in Chicago and Southwest Michigan. I sold exotic furniture from all over the world, unusual home furnishings and art. The retail stores were like mini-museums with price tags, and we had a great following.

However, my best selling furniture designs started showing up in some of the big stores mentioned above. Not exactly the same furniture, and definitely not the same quality, but to undiscerning customers, the "look" was apparently close enough. And the competition forced me to sell many formerly profitable items a loss.

I had to be on the lookout for new furniture suppliers to find items to replace the furniture designs which had been ripped-off.

Then it happened. It seems that most of my furniture sales had been to either buyers of new homes or refinancers of old ones. It was the start of the decline in the housing market. My warehouse was full of furniture. It was enough to last two to three months, given the turnover in my furniture stores.

I wasn't prepared for what happened. That inventory lasted almost three years!

The end of my furniture businesses was in sight, but I struggled to stay afloat. When employees left, I didn't replace them. I became a slave to my stores, which were open seven days a week.

I cut back every expense I could. But the rents still went up every year. Eventually I decided to close each store as the leases were up for renewal. My landlords all wanted five to ten year commitments, with escalation clauses. That firmed the decision.

So, I was left with no stores and no source of income. Not a pretty scenario.

I started looking for what would be the next venture. It had to be something with no inventory, rent, overhead or employees. A friend had introduced me to a network marketing company a few years earlier, but that opportunity was simply too slow-growth for what I wanted. My goal was to find something which could replace the six-figure income I was getting from my furniture stores, and do it quickly!

After months of research, I finally found what I was looking for. Top Tier Direct Sales. I found a company which specialized in selling high-end products on the internet, and signed on.

I learned internet marketing from the company's excellent trainers, and was set up in my new business in a few weeks. Sales started rolling in the next month. Now I work from home, or from the beach in Cancun, or from my i-phone. I love the internet and top tier sales. They gave me the freedom and money I was looking for.

If you are a small business owner, consider what your business was like a few years ago. Have you experienced some of the same pressures as I did? Will things be better next month? How about next year?

You owe it to yourself to take a look at the solution I found. Go to my website right now.
Take a look. This is serious.

Researchers develop new plastics that 'bleed' and heal like human skin

Image
It looks like plastics may not be something for the squeamish in the not-too-distant future. Researchers from the University of Southern Mississippi recently revealed a new type of plastic they've been working on that takes its inspiration from human skin -- it "bleeds" red when it's scratched or cut and then heals itself when it's exposed to light. As Popular Science notes, self-healing plastics aren't something entirely new, but the "bleeding" (achieved using small molecular links or "bridges" that break when the plastic is scratched) is, as is the fact that this plastic an heal itself over and over again in the same spot. What's more, as it's made from water-based copolymers, it's also more environmentally-friendly than other plastics. Of course, it's all a ways from being used in actual products, but the researchers see no shortage of possibilities, including everything from self-healing car fenders to aircraft applications that could warn of problems before they get too severe.

Some Facts Concerning The PS2 Gaming System | Download Free ...

Sony is one of the leading makers of gaming consoles and has been for years. It?s games console is known as the PlayStation or the PS to gaming enthusiasts. There was the PlayStation, now called the PS1, the PS2 and now the PS3.

The Sony PS2 is a gaming machine that can do lots things. For instance, the PS2 will play all of Sony?s games, any CD and any DVD and it will go on line and take part in multi-player games. There are also forums and chat rooms dedicated to PS2 owners.

There are more than 1,800 games in the Sony catalogue and there are more being created all the time. For a monthly, fee you can download or take part in on line games, be they multi-player or single player games. There are games for all moods , kinds of character and ages.

The PS2 has its own built-in modem and LAN plug, so it is a completely self-contained unit. It does not have to be plugged in to a computer to go online, and you do not have to be on line to play a game, watch a film or listen to your favourite music either over speakers or a headset.

The PS2 is not only a revamped PS1, it is a entirely different machine, so if you are used to the PS1, you will still benefit from reading the instruction booklet that comes with it. Regrettably, numerous individuals neglect to read the handbook and so fail to set up their PlayStation in the best way.

One of the functions that you almost certainly will not discover without reading the handbook is how to reset the unit or put it in stand-by mode. This is a lot more preferable to only pulling the plug out or leaving it running all the time. There is a recessed button on the front of the unit. If you press it for a second or two, the machine will power down and go into stand-by

If the console crashes or some other fault occurs, you will want to reset it. This is done by depressing the same button for longer than is needed to enter stand-by. Therefore, the console will go into stand-by and a couple of seconds later will reset, if you keep pressure on the button.. You ought to not need to do this frequently, but it is handy to know nevertheless.

On the other hand, you ought to probably use stand-by mode more frequently than you do, because it is the manufacturer?s recommended manner of putting the machine to rest. The PS2 is in essence a dedicated computer and ought to get treated as such. Leaving it on all the time is the same as leaving your computer on all the dime, but without automatic stand-by after, say, an hour.

If your house is subject to power failures or fluctuations in current, the console or the state of the game could become affected in an unpredictable way. Putting the PS2 into stand-by mode reduces the likelihood of this happening.

What do Samsung and Phones 4u have to show the UK on March 30th?

Image
We're not saying this could be the date-of-reveal for the Galaxy S III, but we also can't say it's not. What we can surmise, however, is that either Samsung or UK retailer Phones 4u (possibly both) apparently have something to unveil on March 30th. According to Eurodroid, the window pictured above, simply reading "coming 30.03.12" under a Samsung logo, was photographed by one of its readers outside of the Phones4u located on Oxford St. in London. The site also notes that this same location was the exclusive retailer for the Galaxy Nexus when it launched, making the little meat that's currently here all the more juicy. Whatever Sammy has in store, you'll just have to keep guessing as it remains a mystery for now. Hit up the links below for more photos and speculation, and be sure let us know your best guess in the comments.

North Korea's rocket plan hijacks nuclear summit

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) ? The security summit opening Monday was supposed to be an opportunity for President Barack Obama and other leaders to find ways to keep nuclear material away from terrorists. So far, North Korea has upstaged that agenda.

And that may be just what Pyongyang intended.

Several of the heads of state gathered in Seoul for the two-day summit have criticized the North's surprise announcement 10 days ago that it plans to blast a satellite into space next month aboard a long-range rocket ? a launch that Obama's government views as cover for nuclear missile development.

Obama urged North Korean leaders to abandon their rocket plan or risk jeopardizing their country's future and thwarting a recent U.S. pledge of food aid in return for nuclear and missile test moratoriums ? considered a breakthrough after years of deadlock. South Korean President Lee Myung-bak's government warned it might shoot down parts of the rocket if it violates South Korean air space.

Obama and Lee also pressed North Korean ally China to use its influence to prevent a launch. Meanwhile, a Chinese government-backed disarmament expert said allowing the launch to dominate discussions at the summit may be exactly what North Korea wants.

"I think North Korea did this to overshadow our talks about nuclear security," said China Arms Control and Disarmament Association head Li Hong. "We shouldn't fall for their trick."

Impoverished North Korea has a history of angling for food, oil and other concessions in exchange for disarmament pledges in on-again, off-again talks, and it periodically launches aggressive, attention-grabbing moves to ensure those negotiations stay high on the international agenda.

Why North Korea made its rocket announcement so soon after settling a nuclear freeze-for-aid deal last month with the United States has mystified some observers, because it endangers a pending aid shipment.

However, Pyongyang previously has upped the ante by creating crises during diplomatic talks on the nuclear standoff, including in 2009 when it launched a long-range, multistage rocket seen as a defying a U.N. ban. When the U.N. Security Council condemned that launch, Pyongyang responded by abandoning six-nation nuclear disarmament talks and, weeks later, carrying out a nuclear test, its second.

The following year saw violence blamed on North Korea that claimed the lives of 50 South Koreans and fears that the Koreas were near war. But Pyongyang then began a charm offensive, pushing for a resumption of the disarmament talks, and the U.S.-North Korea deal settled onFeb. 29 was seen as a breakthrough and a step toward resumption of those broader nuclear negotiations.

"If they raise hopes, then dash hopes, then come back again, they think they might get a better deal," said Ralph Cossa, president of Pacific Forum CSIS, a Hawaii-based think tank. "The better the crisis, the better the deal."

Pyongyang also has been blamed for provocations ahead of previous major international events hosted by the South. The year before the 1988 Seoul Olympics, a bombing blamed on two North Korean agents killed 115 people aboard a South Korean airline. North Korea has never acknowledged responsibility.

The drama over North Korea's latest plan for a satellite launch has also robbed attention from the summit's moves to lock down the world's supply of nuclear material by 2014. Participants were to release a communique about those efforts Tuesday.

It also takes the spotlight away from diplomacy meant to halt Iran's suspected nuclear weapons program, though Obama stressed that he would press the issue of Iran in one-on-one talks with the leaders of Russia and China.

"Iran's leaders must understand that there is no escaping the choice before it. Iran must act with the seriousness and sense of urgency that this moment demands," Obama said.

North Korea has said it would launch its rocket around the April 15 celebration of the birthday of North Korean founder Kim Il Sung ? and that timing is probably not linked to this week's nuclear summit, said Koh Yu-hwan, a North Korea professor at Seoul's Dongguk University. However, the North may have timed its March 16 launch announcement with the global meeting in mind, he said.

"North Korea can demonstrate to the world how volatile and tense the situation on the Korean peninsula is" with the launch, he said. "That would help it achieve its interests in future negotiations."

North Korea also moved its rocket into position just before the summit opened, South Korean officials said Sunday.

Yoo Ho-yeol, a professor at Korea University in the South, said Pyongyang has decided to launch a satellite because it believes it will help solidify new leader Kim Jong Un's power at a time when it has vowed to build a thriving nation.

"North Korea doesn't have many things to show off," he said.

China, as North Korea's biggest source of diplomatic support and economic assistance, faces pressure to get the North to halt its rocket plans. However, China maintains its leverage is limited by Pyongyang's unpredictable nature and Beijing's overriding concern for stability along its northeastern border.

Chinese President Hu Jintao met Monday with the South Korean president and later with Obama.

Ben Rhodes, Obama's deputy national security adviser, said Hu indicated China was taking the launch seriously and letting its concerns be known to Pyongyang.

But, he added, "China has expressed those concerns before, and North Korea has continued on with its behavior."

"China needs to look at whether it needs to be doing more," he said.

China will continue to express its concerns to North Korea ? and may send a high-level official to Pyongyang to press its case ? but won't cut off aid for fear of destabilizing the new government, Peking University international relations expert Zhu Feng.

The Outlook Social Connector ? a hidden jewel | Business Productivity

How many of you are using the Outlook Social Connector? Or perhaps I should ask how many of you know that there is something called the Outlook Social Connector? I would guess not too many of you. Currently I?m working on a number of tutorial videos on managing your contact information in Outlook 2010, while doing my research I realized that the Outlook Social Connector is a ?hidden jewel? that not too many people are aware of. I really get a lot of added benefit by using the Outlook Social Connector so I wanted to dedicate this blog post to tell you more about what it is, how you can benefit and how you can get started.

Introducing the Outlook Social Connector

The Outlook Social Connector was introduced by Microsoft quite some time ago, in November 18th 2009 to be exact. It became available as a download as part of the Microsoft Office 2010 beta. The Outlook Social Connector connects people you communicate with or have stored in your contacts folder in Outlook 2010 with their profiles on a number of different social networks. Initially the networks you could connect with were Windows Live and Microsoft?s social network for enterprises available in SharePoint, but today you have numerous options of social networks to choose from.

What does the Outlook Social Connector do?

Today, our communication and interaction with other people has in many cases been taken over by social networks. This is where we post updates on what we are doing, where we are going and who we are with. Often it is through social networks we find out if someone has a new job or if someone has an updated phone number.? Despite having our ?friends? or ?connections? in our social networks most of us have contact details to our friends, family, colleagues and business partners in our Outlook contact directory, or some other address book application. ?The Outlook Social Connector connects your Outlook contact directory with your social network list of friends and business contacts to give you all information in one place ? Outlook.

How does it work?

In Outlook 2010 you have something called the ?People Pane?. This pane is visible at the bottom of email and contact cards. By default the People Pane is minimized, you can expand the People Pane by clicking the arrow in the bottom right corner.

In the People Pane you can see updates from the people you are connected to through a social network directly from within Outlook. You don?t have to switch between different web sites; you will see an aggregated view of their updates from the various social networks in one single view. The People pane neatly organizes their latest status posts, their profile picture, your recent communication and any meetings you might have scheduled with the person.

Even if you are not connected to a person, you can still see the profile picture of that person if they have set their profile as ?public? on the social network, however you will never see any updates from that person. In order to see updates from the person you need to be connected to the person on the network, or the person has to have a setting in their profile which makes his or her updates public. The Outlook Social Connector uses the same security settings as the social network web site.

You can ask to connect to a person directly from Outlook by clicking on the green plus sign and selecting the social network you want to connect through. You can be? connected to a person through several social networks. You will see a logo next to the green plus sign for each network where you are connected. You can see the profile pictures from each network by clicking the white arrows in the People Pane profile picture. ?If you click on one of the social network icons, the profile of the person will open up in a browser so that you can see more information about the person.

Social networks you can connect to

The social networks that are currently available for use with the Outlook Social Connector are FaceBook, LinkedIn, Windows Live Messenger, viadeo, and XING.

Microsoft has published the software development kit needed for social network providers to connect to Outlook so I?m sure that we?ll see additional social networks get added over time. As soon as a new social network is added you will see it on the Outlook Social Connector partner listing page.

Benefits of using the Outlook Social Connector

As you start using the Outlook Social Connector you will notice more and more benefits. I have listed some of the benefits that I have experienced below, but I?m sure that you will come up with even more.

  • Get to know people you communicate with ? Last week I was having a meeting with a group of people from a Swedish company that were visiting Dubai.? I had had some email communication with one of the financial advisors and we had agreed to meet in the lobby of their hotel. Since he had his profile on LinkedIn and FaceBook I was able to see his picture in our email communication in Outlook so that I knew who I was looking for.
  • Strengthen connections by staying up to date ? Another example was the other day when I was emailing a contact about an upcoming event. When I entered his email address in the email, I could see in the People Pane that he had multiple congratulation messages from his friends since it was his birthday. I could now start my email with congratulating him before I discussed business matters.
  • Keep your contact information up to date ? When people change jobs and email addresses they might not always send out an email to everyone to inform them about their new contact details. When you connect to LinkedIn, Outlook will create a new contact folder called ?LinkedIn?. This contact folder is synchronized with LinkedIn so that any changes made to their contact information in LinkedIn will be automatically copied to your contact folder. This way you can make sure to always have your contact information up to date.
  • Save time by staying in Outlook ? Finally one of the great benefits is that you save time by gathering all information from various social networks in one place. Instead of having to go to for example FaceBook and then to LinkedIn to see updates from people, you get a summarized view of all activities from your social networks, and your Outlook communication history in one view. This definitely improves your business productivity.

How do I get started?

It?s a bit tricky to find the settings for the Outlook Social Connector. Go to your ?Contacts? folder in Outlook 2010, click ?Views? and then ?People Pane? and then ?Account Settings?.? Here you can select the social network you want to connect Outlook to and then you need to sign in using your login information. If the social network is not visible in this list you might need to install the plug in, to do that just click on the link ?View social network providers available online? and download the plug-in for that particular social network.

How to learn more

Having your contact information up to date and organized is really key in today?s business world when so much is about networking. Last week we posted a video tutorial called ?Organize your contact directory? about how to manage your contacts in Outlook 2010.? This week we?ll post another video on how to work more effectively with your contacts in Outlook. In a few weeks we will be posting a video tutorial on how to use the Outlook Social Connector but until then I strongly urge you to install it and give it a try. ?Social networking is a part of business life today and you need to embrace it to stay on top of things. Also, I?d love to connect with you, either through FaceBook or LinkedIn. So stay in touch and tell me what you think about our videos and our blog posts. I?d love to hear from you!

Will Record Immigration Sink Obama?

During the Great Depression, President Roosevelt shut down immigration to a trickle. He got re-elected ? twice. The man was literally, President for Life. During the Great Recession, instead of following Roosevelt?s proven strategy, President Obama did just the opposite. He kept legal immigration going at a record pace. (See my charts here.)

What?s even crazier is that the Democrats seem to think that the immigration issue is their trump card.

I can hardly believe this is happening.

Maybe recent immigrants vote Democratic, but what good is that when their weight on the labor market drives down wages and working conditions thereby minting an even larger number of voters eager for a change of national direction?

The USA has become more conservative over the past year, and many states have turned from blue to red. (See this Gallup poll). And even with the specter of a Republican sweep in November, the legal-immigration issue is not even discussed.

All of the immigration debate is around illegal immigration. I watched almost all of the Republican debates, and I don?t recall a single instance when legal immigration was even mentioned.

And that shows that legal immigration is not a partisan issue. Sure, I think it could sink Obama, but I doubt a Republican president would have done anything different.

People hate it when I write non-partisan political commentary. Both sides howl for the red meat like so many rabid dogs.

Fools!

The multinationals want cheap labor in the USA; just like in their beloved China. President Obama is taking one for the team ? Team Plutocracy.

One million legal immigrants per year poured onto an economy already sagging with 13 millions unemployed, and 46 million on food stamps?

Insanity for Americans; nirvana for multinationals.

You partisans are playing small ball. Like my blog motto says: ?It?s the sovereignty stupid!?
